MCRMF was started by friends of Maria Cecilia Rosa who came together to honor her memory in a positive matter. Our goal is to always remember her positive energy, her smile, her achievements, as well as, her struggles. Our mission is to raise funds to provide an educational scholarship to select students in Cecilia’s name.

Cecilia came to the United States soon after her mother passed away. Cecilia attended Millikan High School in Long Beach. She became a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff in 2000, although she loved being a deputy sheriff, she continued to pursue her passion for higher education. She graduated from Long Beach City College with her AA. She was enrolled in Cal State Long Beach when she was murdered. She was one semester away from receiving her Bachelor’s Degree. One of Cecilia’s dreams was to obtain a Master’s Degree. Cecilia always emphasized her passion for higher education.

We believe that through others, Cecilia’s dreams will come true. Through others, Cecilia’s hopes will be fulfilled. Through others, Cecilia’s smile will live on.

To us, Cecilia meant true friendship, love and family. Cecilia’s spirit and influence lives on in our hearts and memories.
